Google Adsense |
I personally have had a lot more failure than success while looking for profits on the internet. With that said I have seen one program with very positive potential. This being Google Adsense. With Google Adsense all you do is place ads provided by Google on your website and you can get paid by two different scenarios. One is Cost Per Click. (CPC) CPC is the amount of money you receive for every time the actual add is clicked. This price will vary but on a site with a lot of traffic, you will see jaw dropping results. The second scenario is Cost Per Impression. (CPI) CPI is where you receive money for every time the advertisement is loaded up on a page. Anytime the page that the ad is on is loaded you will receive money. Even when the page is refreshed it is still considered as being loaded and you will still get paid. The reason for this scenario is that advertisers are hoping that potential customer's eyes will notice the ad. As we all probably know the best way to remember an ad is by repetition. That is the idea here. The more the advertisement is noticed the better possibility someone will become interested. Now while Google Adsense may seem like a sure way to make money, it can be difficult. First you need to create a website or blog. Some of the popular website design pages include Tripod and Freewebs. These two sites are free and relatively easy to work with. In my experience with free website creators i personally feel that Freewebs is a better site, but Tripod is a good site also. I have only really worked with one blogging site, with this being blogger.com. This is a very good free bogging site but by no means is it the only quality blogging site. To find other blogging sites simply use the search feature in Google. After you have created your website you need to increase your traffic. There are many ways to do this but all can be very time consuming and take a lot of work. This is the step that separates the men from the boys. One of the easiest ways to increase your traffic is through paid advertisement. Now this really isn't the best idea seeing as you have no idea how much money you will actually make and paying for advertisements could eventually lead to negative profits. A very cost effective, but not extremely effective method is through free advertisement. Any chance you see possible you throw in a plug for your site you need to do it. If you are a member to myspace, throw a little link and description of your site somewhere to catch someone's eyes. Some blogging sites even include ways to get your name out there. There are ways to advertise without paying for it but they can be very rigorous, with a little work and luck your website name can be noticed. Now to get into the actual set up of Adsense. Google Adsense is pretty self explanatory, but this should help you understand the ins and outs of setting it up on your site. First you obviously need to sign up. Now once you have created your account its time to place adds on your website. To do this you simply start by logging onto your Adsense account. Next you click the tab at the top that says Adsense setup. After this you are presented with a few options. You can either put the actual ads on your site, a search box, or a referral. For this walkthrough we will just click on the normal add. (Adsense for content) After clicking this you are brought to more options. You can either click on ad unit which is just a normal ad that pertains to your site, or link unit with shows different topics that can be clicked based on your site. For this example we are going to click ad unit, the top one. With this option checked you can now use the pull down menu to decide weather your add is going to be strictly text, strictly picture, or both. We will leave it on the default text and image ads and click continue at the bottom. The next page is all about the style and look of your ad. You can view the different forms and even change the colors here. This page is basically self explanatory and once you have chosen all of your options we will click continue. Now we come up to a page that asks for you to select channels. I honestly never have used this but what it basically is, is a way for you to keep track of what is doing well on your website and different statistics. For now we will just click continue but if you would like you can go back and create this later. Finally we are brought to a page with a whole bunch of letter and numbers that mean nothing to you by just looking at it. This in fact is the html code for your ad. Click on the html so it is all in blue and then copy it. Now that you have it copied go to your website and paste it into where ever you need to paste codes for your website. From now on whenever someone accesses your site they will see the ad you placed there. Now that you understand the basics to Google Adsense you can begin to customize your ads and change things around to better your profits. Now I think I know what you are thinking, "I can just fraudulently get people to click my ads for me so ill make money." Now yes this is true you could do that but I highly advise you against it. Google has some amazing software that can detect when a link is receiving fraudulent clicks. Trust me it is not worth it to fraudulently click your link. Eventually Google will catch on no matter how sly you think you are. The least they will do to you is suspend your account. Now keep in mind that's the least they will do. I wish you the best of luck in your future with Google Adsense and I hope that everything ends up working out for you. Below is an example of how an ad from Google will look. You can change the colors or do whatever you need to do to make it fit on your site. |
