Building a site |
You can attack building a site a couple of different ways Blogs Basically a blog is something where you write whatever is on your mind. Blogs are very customizable, which allows you to do many different things. I have seen many different blogs, in which people decide they are going to write about a certain topic. For example, I'm sure there are many hockey blogs out there. A blog can basically be made into your own website, the only difference is the links are actual blog remarks by you and your peers. A blog is an extremely good way to get people to get traffic for your Google links. The only problem is there are millions of blogs out there, so you either need to be really lucky, or have some sort of information that is rare. You can always try advertising your blog, either through paid or free advertisement, but the fact is no matter how much you advertise you probably will still not get a lot of traffic. When I had a blog, I believe the only traffic I ever received was from family and friends. Your not going to make a lot of money if just family and friends are viewing your site, which is why I had moved on to more intricate sites like these. I personally don't recommend using a blog, if you plan to make money off of advertisements, but I do recommend them if you are merely trying to get your feet wet at the moment. Free sites A free site is exactly like it sounds, a free website. I personally believe that this idea is a lot better than going with a blog, but I guess it comes down to personaly preference. You will definitley get a lot more traffic with a website rather than a blog, you just need to advertise. I don't recommend paid advertising however. I only recomend advertisment through free methods. Some examples include spreading the site by mouth. You tell 10 people to tell 10 people to tell 10 people, and imagine the potential of your site. Another way to advertise, is through the internet. Myspace is a great example. If you have one you can add a link, or even create a myspace to promote the site. Now free sites does not necessarily mean a site that you create over the internert, it just means a way to get some website that you have created on the internet. Now after reading that line you may be confused, which I am going to clear up. There are programs out there that provide you with the tools to create your own page with them, and there are also companies out there that provide you with free webspace and free subdomain names. Webspace is obviously the space your site takes up on the internet, and a subdoamain name is the address to your site, but the sub part is the name before or after the name of the site. Like my site for example, incomeinternet.awardspace.com. Awardspace is the subdomian. Now at this point your probably thinking he uses a free program for his site, and you are right. Awardspace lets me use their free webspace, and subdomians, however they don't have tools to create your own website. What I did, was I went out and bought my own web design program, and through a method called FTP I transfered my website to their free hosting. So in a way my site was free, except for the cost of my design program. Paid Sites Paid sites are just like free sites, only you pay for the materials you use. Im not going to go into detail because I already did in free sites. |
Below are some of the best sites for either blogs, free sites, or paid sites. |
